Welcome to my webpage!   I have been a school psychologist at Lyndhurst for fifteen years working primarily with children ages three to 8th  grade.  I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology. In addition to my degrees, I have earned over 45 graduate credits in the fields of psychology and counseling.

All children can face problems from time to time that affect their ability to learn. sad In my role as School Psychologist, I am a member of the Child Study Team (CST) which strives to help our students to succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.  I work with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment.

A major part of my role consists of performing psychological assessments to determine a child’s need for special education services. These evaluations involve working very closely with the child, the family, and the teachers to provide an in-depth picture of the child’s individual learning profile. While the process can be intimidating and distressing, I take pride in making the experience as pleasant as possible for the student, and in sharing the results clearly and compassionately with parents.

Another major part of my role is acting as Case Manager to several students while they remain eligible for special education services. This entails monitoring their progress, updating their IEP, liaising with parents, teachers/therapists, principals, and generally acting as troubleshooter should problems related to academic success arise. I very much enjoy creating a congenial environment where all parties work together in the best interest of the child.  From time to time, I have provided individual counseling, and social skills and study skills group support.

While I work with children at all of the Lyndhurst elementary schools, I serve as CST liaison to Lincoln School, and am an active member of the Intervention and Referral Service (I&RS) team there. The I&RS team meets regularly to monitor the progress of students who are struggling in the general education classroom. The I&RS team promotes student motivation and engagement, and provides supports and strategies to both the teacher(s) and student(s) so that the student can meet with academic success without the need for special education.

Thank you for visiting my page, and for the privilege of working with your children! smiley
